About the client
Gamania Shopping (購物橘子) is an ecommerce platform for anime merchandise, toys and figures, video games and consumer electronics, built to be an “online Akihabara”. Compared with large general marketplaces, its core customers are highly sensitive to product details, collectible value and market buzz, especially popular anime IP and limited or trending tech and hobby products. Marketing, product selection and conversion optimisation all depend on data-driven decisions.
The challenge
Gaps in event tracking were distorting marketing strategy and resource allocation.
To understand how customers move from interest to purchase, the brand used GA4 to observe behaviour at each stage and evaluate marketing performance.
During analysis, the team found breaks in the GA4 event setup. Key user actions were not recorded correctly, so parts of the conversion flow could not be reported or analysed.
As a result, the brand could not see the full shopping journey or how people interacted with product pages, which weakened decisions on marketing strategy and budget.
The solution
Step 1: understand the current state with a full account health check
CloudAD ran a full health check of the GA4 account, reviewing existing events, how parameters were used, and the structure and consistency of the data being sent. We compared the data against real operational needs and identified untracked key actions, events firing incorrectly and missing data fields.
The goal was not just to find errors but to help the brand understand the strengths, weaknesses and room for improvement in its data architecture. Knowing which data could be trusted and which needed work laid a solid foundation for rebuilding tracking, designing marketing strategy and automating analysis.
Step 2: design tracking logic and event parameters around the business
For a hobby-focused store built on trending topics and limited releases, preferences change fast and site interactions are varied, so tracking accuracy matters for every operational decision.
CloudAD planned GA4 recommended events and custom parameters, including product attributes and character IP, matched to common click behaviour so the brand could read market sentiment quickly. We also tracked clicks and interactions with coupons and prize-wheel campaigns, showing which marketing content resonated most.
Events were deployed through Google Tag Manager (GTM) so every interaction is recorded completely and GA4 data can drive marketing and merchandising decisions.
Step 3: strengthen the foundation with skills and structure
As the business grew and campaigns became more frequent, the team needed its data to be both flexible and stable. CloudAD strengthened the technical architecture and helped the team build the capability to run and use its data on its own.
- Structure: a stronger data architecture. CloudAD designed a systematic dataLayer for Gamania Shopping, with technical documentation and a maintenance process, so key user actions keep being recorded reliably through site redesigns, campaign updates and new features. The dataLayer is the bridge between the website and GA4. It turns interactions such as product clicks, add-to-cart and checkout into a standard data format, the basis for marketing and merchandising decisions. Only a clear, stable dataLayer makes analysis reflect real user behaviour.
- Skills: a data culture. Through practical training and consulting support, CloudAD helped the team understand the core logic of GA4 and GTM so they can handle event setup, report reading and tracking changes themselves.

Results
- Data analysis efficiency up 50%
- Tracking setup handled 30% faster
- 80% less time spent compiling data
- 50% more events tracked
What the client says
“When GA moved entirely to GA4, the traffic data an ecommerce platform relies on most was suddenly at risk. CloudAD helped us migrate painlessly and build complete reports in the shortest time, and their consultants quickly answered our questions about metric definitions and how to apply them across systems. It was well worth it.”
